The reception to the KIFF screening of Ei Raat Tomar Amar was outstanding. Three different generations made up the audience in the choc-o-block auditorium, which was euphoric.

The moviegoers appeared to have been moved by the nostalgia, awe, and anticipation for the first-ever on-screen union of Aparna Sen and Anjan Dutt, which Parambrata had crafted. The team told the audience about how they both found or were found in movies as directors and actors, decades apart.

The connection of an old couple is delicately shown in Ei Raat Tomar Amar, which takes place over one night while a storm is building outside.

Aparna Sen said “The only reason I’m in this movie is because of Anjan. It’s been a delight to act beside him after directing him. Perhaps the degree of ease has crept into our private conversations in Param’s film Ei Raat Tomar Amar”.

Anjan Dutt said “Just like Rinadi is the reason a young me decided to pursue acting, I may take credit for a very young Param’s arrival in this world. The fact that Rinadi and I were able to work together as co-stars in Param’s film today is a lovely serendipity”.

The director Parambrata Chatterjee said “The film’s concept is very dear to my heart. I have always been fascinated by topics surrounding the elderly and the fascination of connections that last over decades, and I have attempted to appropriately depict these topics in Ei Raat Tomar Amar since I lost my parents when I was a young child”.

Ei Raat Tomar Amar, produced by SVF, and directed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay is all set to release on the 31st of January 2025.
