The Murshidabad Heritage Development Society (MHDS) will host the annual Murshidabad Heritage Festival, which is a three-day immersion into the city’s rich cultural and historical fabric. The festival, which is set for February 7–9, 2025, is a lively celebration of the area’s remarkable heritage that combines history, culture, cuisine, and storytelling.

A memorable experience is provided to attendees, which includes engrossing storytelling sessions, heritage walks, and film screenings that explore the intriguing past of the Sheherwali community and renowned banker Jagat Seth. A spectacular fashion show showcasing Murshidabad’s fine textiles and captivating evening performances, including ghazals and other traditional music, are among the festival’s exclusive cultural events.

The festival’s culinary heritage tour is one of its highlights. Visitors eat at famous spots like Bari Kothi, Cossimbazar Rajbari, and the House of Sheherwali, which all provide a genuine taste of the past combined with delectable regional cuisine. The experience is further enhanced with tea parties by the river and stargazing dinners at Kathgola Palace.

The weavers’ village at Tatipara, where Baluchari sarees are still meticulously handwoven, is open to visitors. Gulab jal (rosewater), kutti mirchi ka achar (chili pickle), kadbel ka pachak (wood apple digestive), silk fabrics, and many other genuine artisanal goods are available for purchase at the event.
