During the Ganga Sagar Mela, the Green Ganga Sagar program was successfully launched by the South 24 Parganas Administration in partnership with the Rakshak Foundation. To increase awareness of the value of sustainable practices, Rakshak Foundation volunteers actively took part in a march with placards, distributed eco-friendly bags, and collected plastic debris.

The Ganga Sagar Mela attracts a lot of people. The Rakshak Foundation’s volunteers and students play a crucial role in teaching attendees the value of minimizing plastic waste and promoting environmentally suitable substitutes.

Chaitali Das, the founder of the Rakshak Foundation, said “We have been working with the government and local communities to promote greener practices for the past five years”.

Dr. Sujay Kumar Biswas, district officials, JD Birla students, and Rakshak Foundation volunteers graced the event.
