A Great Start To The 11th Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival

The inauguration of the 11th Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival was organized in the presence of Indranil Sen, Hon’ble MOS (IC), Tourism and Technical Education, Training and Skill Development and MOS, Information and Cultural Affairs Departments, Arpita Ghosh, Chairperson of Shishu Kishore Akademi, director Goutam Ghose, Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Minister–in–Charge, Aroop Biswas, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Bratya Basu, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Indranil Sen, Hon’ble Minister of State and others.

The inaugural film is a Gujarati film titled Elham directed by Dhruva Harsh.

Also gracing the occasion were the child actors of the inaugural film Taiyo Chan and Totto Chan along with the director.

Gautam Ghose inaugurated the festival brochure.

Speaking at the inauguration, Gautam Ghose said “With the advancement of technology, there will be a time when kids will make films on the adults. It will show their perspective of adults. Maybe next year at this festival, there will be a section where such films will be screened”.

116 films will be screened from 30 countries across venues like Nandan-I, II, III, Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Chalachitra Satabarsha Bhavan, Rabindra Okakura Bhavan and Rabindra Tirtha.

The Hatey Kolomey Cinema at Gaganendra Shilpa Pradarshashala will take place from the 22nd to the 28th of January. The time is from 2 pm to 6 pm. This was inaugurated from the stage of the inaugural event.

The closing film is a Hindi film Pravas directed by Vipul Sharma.

The different sections at the festival are Fantasy films, Bengali panorama films, Literature and cinema, World cinema, Nature/environmental films, and Shorts and documentary films.

Some of the films that will be screened at the festival are Guptodhoner Sondhane, Moana 2, Maleficent, Adventures of Jojo, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Kony, Bambi, The Other One, Mr, Poppers Penguins, Successor, Fiery Fox, Out of the Nest, Doodhpither Gachh and others.

There will be also a quiz on children’s films on 26th January at 3 pm at Ektara Mukto Mancha.

The show time is 12 pm, 3 pm, and 6 pm across all venues.

This festival will continue from 22nd to 28th January 2025.
