Special Jury Award For ITC Hotels At The FICCI Water Awards 2024


At the FICCI Water Awards 2024, which took place on February 24, 2025, ITC Royal Bengal and ITC Sonar were recognized with the Special Jury Award in the “Industrial Water Efficiency” category. This award honors ITC Royal Bengal and ITC Sonar’s commitment to sustainability, cutting-edge water conservation techniques, and steadfast adherence to ITC Hotels’ Responsible Luxury philosophy.
ITC Royal Bengal and ITC Sonar’s recognition highlights their leadership in sustainability. Both hotels meet international standards for environmentally friendly operations and design as LEED Platinum-certified buildings.
ITC Sonar is the second hotel globally to receive the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Zero Water Certification. For cities, neighborhoods, and structures aiming for a sustainable future, LEED Zero establishes a new standard. Total alternative or recycled water use is balanced with total potable water use in LEED Zero Water.
In their efforts to achieve Net Zero Carbon, ITC Royal Bengal and ITC Sonar have made notable progress in decarbonization and water efficiency. The hotels guarantee outstanding water performance by incorporating cutting-edge water-efficient technologies. The Scale and Bio-Removal System (SBR), water-efficient modern dishwashers and laundry machines, automatic chiller tube cleaning system, SunyaAqua (Zero Mile Travelled Water): Sustainable In-House Water Bottling, Water Pressure Management throughout the Building, and Rainwater Harvesting are some of the major initiatives. Additionally, 100% of used water is responsibly recycled through an advanced treatment system. To maximize water optimization, recycled water satisfies the requirements for irrigation, HVAC cooling towers, and room flushing.
