The music launch of the upcoming Bengali film Alakshye Ritwik took place in the presence of the cast and crew of the film.

Veteran singer Arati Mukherjee graced the event and also shared her working experiences with the legendary filmmaker.

The singer said “I entered the entertainment industry due to Ritwik Ghatak. He had asked me initially to act in his film. But I refused as I was not interested in acting. So he asked me who to cast in his film. I said I had no idea. I asked my elders and they suggested the name of Madhabi Mukherjee”.

A strong subject can be an object. Or moments are recalled in the afterlife. Or a movie that has no plot but is nevertheless a timeless masterpiece. His cinematic canvas was black and white, yet it was filled with vibrant colors. That would be filmmaker Ritwik Kumar Ghatak, who was prescient about the material he produced. Although he stayed behind the scenes, his film highlighted the irony of life.

Due to his theatrical nature, he separated himself from the conventional form of accomplishments and used the medium of film to reach a large audience with his depictions of tragedies in order to provide an epic sense of life and its continuity. Despite his inability to be a good father or a loving husband, he left behind several iconic figures in Indian cinema. Alakshye Ritwik is an attempt to commemorate Ritwik Kumar Ghatak’s contributions to the new wave of Indian cinema, which is still overlooked despite his genius.

The film is directed by Subhankar Bhowmik.

There are two songs in the film.

Silajit Majumder (Ritwik Ghatak), Paayel Sarkar (Surama Ghatak, Ritwik Ghatak’s wife), Raj (Basu Chatterjee), B. D. Mukherjee (Bimal Ray), Kalyan Sinha Roy (Dinen Gupta), Mrinmoy Kanjilal (Salil Chowdhury), and others will be seen in important roles in the film.

Speaking at the event, Silajit Majumder said “The fact that a film has been made to document the life and works of the legendary director is a great effort indeed. I do not know about the future of the film but kudos to the director Subhankar for coming up with this film”.

The film is produced under the banner of M/S Dream Makers 2011.

Milan Bhowmik, Tanwisha Dhar, and Kalyan Sinha Roy are the presenters of the film.

The film is slated for release on the 14^th of March.
