In the distinguished presence of writer and translator Anjum Katyal and filmmaker and cultural commentator Sudeshna Roy, Club Fenicia organized An Ode to Tagore: An Evening of Conversations, a moving event that brought together voices from poetry, literature, and film to honour the women who inspired—and were inspired by—Rabindranath Tagore.

Club Fenicia stood out during a period when luxury frequently distances itself from cultural depth. It continued to honour India’s rich artistic and intellectual legacy as the biggest luxury lounge in Asia. Fenicia’s goal of honouring not only special occasions but also the traditions that mould our shared identity was demonstrated this evening.

The conversation featured Anjum Katyal and Sudeshna Roy along with Paromita Ghosh, Founder and Director of Candid by Paromita.

They thought about the strong female characters in Tagore’s writings as well as the lives of women like Binodini Dasi and Kadambari Devi. The conversation covered topics such as love, liberation, defiance, and the silent, resilient power of women in Tagore’s real world as well as the one he envisioned.

The evening, which offered more than just conversation but also reflection and inspiration, drew in fans of literature, history, and feminist philosophy. It acted as a reminder of Club Fenicia’s awareness. True sophistication, as Chairman Mr. Kunal Gupta had always held, was in staying rooted in the principles and narratives that make us who we are.
