Saplings Planted For 26 Lives Lost In The Pahalgam Incident

In honour of World Environment Day, Siddha Group, (one of the most reputable real estate companies in Eastern India), reaffirmed its dedication to environmental sustainability by partnering with Prayas, (an NGO that works with children with special needs and is led by Mr. Avirup Sengupta), to organise a heartfelt plantation drive in New Town, Kolkata.
The drive saw participation from the children of Prayas, Mr Debraj Chakraborty, Member, Mayor in Council, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, Mr Kalyan Mukhopadhyay, IPS (Retd.), Former Inspector General of Police & Former Additional Commissioner, West Bengal Police, actors Vikram Chatterjee and Devlina Kumar, from the upcoming Bengali Movie, RAAS.
In remembrance of the 26 people who perished in the recent Pahalgam massacre, the dignitaries also planted 26 saplings.
The occasion, which was organised in collaboration with Harimitti and the Mrittika Earthy Talks Foundation, was more than just a token gesture. At the location, a specially created tableau with the words “Be Selfish, Plant Trees, Save Yourself” was flagged off. This mobile unit will travel through the busy streets of Kolkata in the upcoming days, giving out more than 1,000 saplings to locals and raising awareness of environmentally conscious living and community-driven stewardship.
The Siddha Group’s broader environmental commitment to halting climate change, minimising environmental damage, and protecting biodiversity includes this initiative. The Group has committed to planting 50,000 saplings by 2030 as part of this vision.
Warmth, purpose, and a common vision of more environmentally friendly cities and accountable communities were all evident in the event. Siddha Group keeps setting the standard by incorporating sustainability into all facets of its expansion.
