Unsung Heroes Honored Sincerely By Medica On World Environment Day

Medica Superspecialty Hospital (a unit of Manipal Hospitals Group) commemorated World Environment Day with a sincere effort to honour the unsung heroes of Ward No. 109 in the Kolkata Municipality who quietly help to keep our city clean. Smt. Ananya Banerjee, a councillor for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (Ward 109), joined hospital administration and employees at an event at the hospital’s EM Bypass campus to honour sanitation workers who put in countless hours throughout the year to keep the neighbourhood clean and hygienic.
Smt. Ananya Banerjee said, “This World Environment Day serves as a reminder that a clean and sustainable environment is the foundation of a healthy life. Hearing about Manipal Hospitals’ plan to recognise the unsung heroes of hygiene from Ward No. 109 made me very happy. It is an admirable and considerate step in the direction of creating a cleaner future. I have seen firsthand since 2015 how Medica, which is now a part of the Manipal Hospitals Group, has continuously taken steps to promote environmental health in the community. These frontline sanitation workers are the unsung heroes of our community’s health, much like a hospital maintains cleanliness as a fundamental principle for healing. Without the unwavering support of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, whose role is still crucial in creating a healthier Kolkata, such initiatives would not be feasible”.
Interactive sessions with the sanitation workers and a special felicitation ceremony were also part of the event. Residents came together to show their appreciation and pledge ongoing environmental stewardship.
Medica Superspecialty Hospital, a part of the Manipal Hospitals Group, is committed to incorporating sustainability into its healthcare philosophy, both inside the hospital and in the communities it serves.
