On April 25, 2025, Ruby General Hospital celebrated its 30th anniversary. Hon. Chief Minister Jyoti Basu officially opened the hospital on April 25, 1995, making it Eastern India’s first NRI hospital. On October 27, 1995, Mother Teresa officially opened the Mother Teresa Ward and the Cardiac Surgery Unit. By 2025, it will have 500 beds and a cancer center, according to Dr. Kamal K. Dutta, the founder and chairman. They currently have 356 beds.

Ruby General Hospital has planned 30 outreach Cancer Speciality Clinics in various West Bengal districts during FY 2025–2026 in order to make the 30th anniversary celebration memorable. At Burdwan, the first clinic was being inaugurated. Beginning in July 2025, this clinic will provide three specialty oncology consultations per week in addition to a multidisciplinary tumor board once a month. This will allow for the possibility of early detection, which raises survival rates, proper treatment planning using a multidisciplinary approach, shorter treatment wait times, better patient outcomes, lower treatment costs, and a higher quality of life.

The hospital wants to raise awareness and educate people about cancer early detection. Through the Ruby Cancer Care and Research Foundation, they already run awareness campaigns and camps.

Ruby General Hospital and Ruby Cancer Centre developed this initiative because the organization’s 30th anniversary is a very significant milestone.
