With her program, Gaaner Aitijhya, talented vocalist Ms. Aitijhya Roy captivated the spectators with a captivating musical trip today. Bengal’s rich cultural and musical heritage spanning genres was honored at the event, which took place at Sisir Mancha.

After starting her training with Banasree Dey, Aitijhya Roy studied classical music with Pandit Tushar Dutta and studied Rabindra Sangeet for 16 years under Smt. Apala Basu Sen. She has been studying classical music and raga-based compositions since 2011 under the tutelage of Sri Deborshee Bhattacharya and Sri Rathijit Bhattacharya.

Her commitment and talent were recognized in 2018 when she received the National Scholarship in Rabindra Sangeet. Aitijhya, a Radio (Betar) artist with a B-High grade, has voiced many Bengali jingles and most recently performed for the Bangla Zee 5 web series Bibhishon. She has appeared in shows on a variety of television networks, and her debut album, Poran Khule Daak, was published in 2015.

Audiences engaged in a solo performance by Aitijhya Roy, spanning a wide repertoire — from Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrulgeeti, and Dwijendrageeti to folk songs (Matir Sur), Raga-based Songs, modern classics of Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Shyamal Mitra, R.D. Burman, and even contemporary voices like Mohiner Ghoraguli.

Some of the songs she performed were Ami Banglay Gaan Gai, Kichudin Mone Mone, Bhromor Koiyo, Anandalokey, Tarey Boley Dio, Prithibi Ta Naki Chhoto Hotey Hotey, Chiro Sakha Hey, Dhono Dhanyo Pushpo Bhora, etc.

“Music has always been my way of connecting with people and with Bengal’s timeless heritage. I want to honor the origins, the nostalgia, and the changing sounds that characterize our shared cultural identity through Gaaner Aitijhya,” said Aitijhya Roy.

In addition to honoring Bengal’s musical heritage, Ms. Aitijhya Roy brings to life the customs, feelings, and shared memories that have influenced generations with Gaaner Aitijhya.
