Aditya Academy, Dumdum, commemorates National Cancer Awareness Day with a three-kilometer silent walk, an awareness talk, and a nukkad natak.

On November 7, 2025, the Interact Club of Aditya Academy Senior Secondary Dumdum took the admirable step of commemorating National Cancer Awareness Day with a meaningful public awareness event that involved all of the school’s students. This event included a 3-kilometer silent walkathon, a medical professional awareness talk, and a thought-provoking street play in the Diamond Plaza mall’s open lobby.

To show their support for cancer survivors and their families, more than a hundred students from Grade VIII forward took part in a silent walkathon. They wore purple ribbon badges. Students performed a stirring Nukkad Natak in the mall’s front lobby as the walk came to a close at Diamond Plaza Mall, the Venue Partner. The audience found great resonance in the performance, which transmitted themes of hope, empathy, and awareness. Two physicians from ILS Hospital, the event’s healthcare partner, Dr. Raktim and Dr. Samrat, gave an energizing speech to kick off the program. The experts stressed the value of community support, lifestyle awareness, and early detection in the fight against cancer. Students were made more aware of the illness’s emotional and medical aspects thanks to their speech.

The panel was also animated by Dr. Aditya Srimali, an Aditya Academy alumnus, and Sreya, a prospective medical student.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Sabita Saha, Director-Academics, Aditya Academy Group of Schools, said, “This initiative reflects the spirit of our students—empathetic, aware, and socially responsible. By extending education outside of the classroom, we develop young people who think that compassion and awareness can lead to significant change”.

The occasion served as a superb illustration of how community involvement and education come together to produce social impact—a concept that Aditya Group has always prospered on.
