He told the tales behind some of his most famous shots, such as the dramatic Kaziranga Tiger on Rhino Kill and the widely recognized Black Panther Under the Stars, which won him the Grand Prize of the 35th Memorial Maria Luisa Contest in Spain, through breathtaking images and engrossing tales. He became the first Indian and Asian photographer to receive this esteemed award when his picture was chosen as the clear winner out of 18,684 photos and 199 films submitted by 1,590 photographers from 95 different nations.

Mr. Banerji also discussed his recent accomplishments, such as winning the Golden Turtle 2025 (Russia) Award in the Animal Behavior category for his captivating photograph of young gharials perched atop a bull gharial in the National Chambal Sanctuary and being named the Black and White Photo Awards 2025 Second Winner in the Flora and Fauna Category for his striking portrait of Craig, the renowned tusker of Amboseli, Kenya.

Students enthusiastically asked questions on conservation, patience in the outdoors, and the ethics of wildlife photography during the event’s interactive questionnaire session. The conversation, which was facilitated by Professor Manoshi Roychowdhury, inspired students to investigate the connections between science, art, and compassion for the natural world.
