“There Is A Great Potential In Indian Athletes”-Kenny Bednarek

The International Event Ambassador for the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, Olympic silver medallist and American sprint star Kenny Bednarek, said he is thrilled to be a part of India’s top distance running competition and that international competitions like this are vital in encouraging people to make fitness a way of life.
Bednarek emphasized the significance of mindset above everything else while discussing what it takes to accomplish at the top level. “It doesn’t matter how well-prepared and gifted you are physically if you lack mental toughness on race day. Mental discipline, accountability, faith, and recuperation are essential for regularly achieving at the highest level,” said Bednarek.
Bednarek discussed ongoing learning and development while reflecting on his personal journey.
“Every year, I strive to improve and learn new things. Even when I succeed, I question my team and myself about what we can do better. There is no such thing as perfection, only progress,” said the sprinter.
One of the top sprinters in the world, Kenny Bednarek, won two silver medals in the men’s 200 meters at the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. He also won a silver medal at the World Championships. He continues to lead American sprinting on the international scene and is a reliable Diamond League competitor with a personal best time of 19.49 seconds.
Regarding the revival of American sprinting, Bednarek stated that the future seemed promising. “American sprinting has a long history of success. Although Usain Bolt was in a class of his own, the USA is currently doing very well. The next few years will be crucial for us because we have major championships coming up and the Olympics at home”, he said.
Bednarek shared his optimistic views about Indian athletics. There is a lot of potential in India. He urged young students to remain dedicated to their objectives. Athletes here can achieve great things on the global stage with the right coaching, training structure, and recovery systems.
“India’s passion for sport is unmistakable. There is a sincere love for community and competitiveness in all sports, including football, cricket, athletics, and distance running. This kind of event demonstrates how athletics can bring people together regardless of age, talent, or background,” said the eminent sprinter.
The event was highly motivational for one and all present.
