The official launch of the book Touching Tomorrow– Miracles Do Happen took place recently. Gracing the event were M.K. Singh, IPS(Retd.); Bachi Karkaria, noted journalist and author; politician Abu Taher Khan; veteran actress Moonmoon Sen; and others.

Authored jointly by Dr. Suparna Gangopadhyay, the Head of the Neurorehabilitation Department and Director of College of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at the Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata, and Dr. Lal Bhatia, PhD, a global thought leader and entrepreneur who overcame a stroke to redefine perseverance and rehabilitation, the book honors a path that redefines human potential.

The Neurorehabilitation Team began with just six dedicated professionals and developed into a worldwide-renowned group of seventy-five experts. This book is more than just a chronicle of institutional development; it is a compelling story of solidarity, tenacity, and steadfast commitment in which each patient’s advancement serves as evidence of hope.

Mentored by Dr Gangopadhyay, the department was built on five pillars— Clinical Care, Academic Excellence, Research Innovation, Extra-curricular Development, and Humanity. As a result, the department has developed into a hub where science and empathy collide, attracting patients, students, and partners from all over the world thanks to its innovative approach to infrastructure and cutting-edge therapy methods. Global neurorehabilitation techniques have improved as a result of extensive research and development, international partnerships, and participation in international academic forums.

The book also emphasizes a thriving environment that has fostered extracurricular activities and sports, enhancing the mental, emotional, and physical health of both professionals and patients. Above all, it honors humanity in care, where compassion, empathy, and dignity transcend hospital boundaries. The book’s vivid accounts of patient achievement are not isolated victories but rather the result of persistent teamwork, capable leadership, and a foundation based on tenacity, patience, and persistence.

“Miracles Do Happen” is the book’s headline, which defines truth and power. These are not accidental miracles; rather, they are the result of unrelenting work, silent sacrifice, late-night hours, and unwavering teamwork. These marvels appear when tenacity tests and transforms dedication, much like gold purified by fire. Every patient who rises again becomes a living example of how human perseverance, driven by compassion and science, may change people’s fates.
