Ishan has made a significant impact on the South Indian music scene in addition to Bengal. He began his professional career in Kannada music while pursuing his doctoral studies in Bengaluru, and later won multiple reality shows. Being given the chance to perform the sole South Indian song ever recorded by renowned vocalist Kishore Kumar—in Kannada—was one of the biggest turning points in his career.
