In the high-stakes arena of Bengal politics, narratives often clash before elections. To counter misinformation and highlight the lifelong struggle of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, a new documentary-feature titled “The Untold Story of Banerjee” has been made. Produced under the banner of R.K. Entertainment, the film aims to provide a definitive look at her unwavering dedication to the people.

The project is the brainchild of Zunaid Khan, who serves as the producer, actor, and writer of the concept and script. Directed by Rahul Saha, the film is currently in production, with filming recently resuming after a brief hiatus for Ramadan.

According to Zunaid Khan, the film meticulously documents historical events from 1993 to 2026. It traces the Chief Minister’s path from her early protest movements and hunger strikes to the rise of youth leader Abhishek Banerjee within the political landscape.

The narrative emphasizes that Abhishek Banerjee has been a constant shadow and support to the Chief Minister since his childhood. Khan notes that even at the age of four, Abhishek was seen participating in movements with a small flag in hand. In the film, Zunaid Khan himself portrays the adult Abhishek Banerjee, while other cast members were selected through a rigorous audition process.

Zunaid Khan, a member of the Artist Forum and a dedicated party worker, has invested significant personal resources into this project. Having previously released the song Jai Hind, Joy Bangla, Khan revealed that he once sold a gold bracelet to fund a music album, and for this docu-feature, he sold a flat in Panchannagram to ensure its completion.

“Our Chief Minister is my emotion, and Abhishek Banerjee is my idol,” said Khan.

Locations for the shoot include Palashipara in Nadia, among others.

Zunaid Khan is the producer of the film.
