Watch One Step Beyond: A Journey To Mars Now At Science City

The new fulldome 3D digital film, One Step Beyond: A Journey to Mars, was inaugurated in the august presence of Dr. Goutam Chattopadhyay, Senior Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, and Visiting Professor at California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, USA, at India’s first 3D fulldome 3D digital theatre at Science City, Kolkata.
Also gracing the inauguration were Shri A.D. Choudhury, Director General, National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Shri K. S. Murali, DDG, NCSM, ShriPramod Grover, Director of Science City, Kolkata, and others.
The movie explores the history of the first man to set foot on the moon before focusing on the audacious goals of upcoming space travel, which are motivated by scientific curiosity, inventiveness, and hard work. The excitement of rocket launches, the difficulties of living and working in space, and the amazing technological developments influencing the next phase of exploration are all captured. The story also explores the scientific search for evidence of extraterrestrial life and highlights the innovative advancements of the NASA Artemis program.
As we get ready for one of the most important exploration milestones—landing on Mars—the film invites viewers to consider our home planet, our origins, and humanity’s place in the universe through breathtaking visuals, compelling storytelling, and a potent cinematic experience.

The film, which was produced by NSC Creative and presented by the National Space Centre, made its world premiere at the Fulldome Festival Brno in Brno on June 11, 2025. Later, on July 19, 2025, it was displayed at the National Space Centre in the United Kingdom. The production, which is presented in 8K full-dome resolution at 60 frames per second, provides an engaging and instructive cinematic experience that piques interest in science, technology, and the role of humans in the cosmos.
The movie will be available to the public starting tomorrow at Science City in Kolkata. Through frequent screenings, guests will be able to take in this immersive full-length production.
