More than 4,500 students from more than 77 top schools in Kolkata, Howrah, and Hooghly participated in the 13th Grand Finale of the SPELL-A-THON OLYMPIADS, which got underway in Kolkata. Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School hosted the two-day competition on June 27 and 28.

Established in 2012 by renowned educator Janaki Venkatramani and supported by IIM Bangalore, SPELL-A-THON OLYMPIADS has grown to become one of the top English language contests in Eastern India. Instead of rote memorization, the event focuses on evaluating vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and practical English language skills.

The organization held its 13th Anniversary Inter-School Open Single Round Competition 2026 in addition to the Grand Finale, with several sessions planned to handle the high turnout.

The competition’s next leg will take place on July 12 at Techno India Group Public School in Chinsurah, according to the organizers, and the Mega Prize Distribution Ceremony is set for September 27 at the National Library Auditorium in Kolkata. Scholarships, medals, trophies, and merit certificates will be awarded to winners in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
