The need for sophisticated transplant care is only increasing due to the growing prevalence of blood disorders and haematological cancers throughout India, including Eastern India. Over 1 lakh new cases of blood cancer are reported in India each year, and bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is becoming a crucial treatment option for diseases like thalassemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma, and aplastic anemia. Results have greatly improved thanks to developments in supportive care, donor matching, and transplant procedures.

Thalassemia survivors Ritu Kundu and Sanchita Paul shared recitations honoring fortitude, optimism, and the ability to overcome medical obstacles.

Sayan Ghosh, a 22-year-old student from Malda studying Political Science (Honours), had aplastic anemia, a disorder in which the bone marrow stops making enough blood cells, resulting in low levels of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. If left untreated, this condition can be fatal.  The survivor gave an inspiring account of how he overcame a rare blood disorder.
