The Kolkata Ballet Festival 2026, the first-ever event in Kolkata devoted solely to Western Classical Ballet, was presented by Mind Body Spirit in a momentous occasion for the city’s cultural landscape. The festival brought together young ballet aspirants, educators, and dance enthusiasts from all over India and the world. It was designed as a platform for learning, artistic excellence, and international cultural exchange.

The festival’s four main pillars—Evaluation, Workshop, Competition (named SPOTLIGHT), and Lecture Demonstration—offered attendees a well-curated, enriching experience that goes well beyond competition.

The festival aimed to foster discipline, creativity, and technical excellence in the upcoming generation of ballet dancers through rigorous training sessions, professional guidance, and performance opportunities.

The presence of internationally renowned ballet instructor Khushcheher Dallas, Director of The School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance, Mumbai, as a guest faculty member and chief adjudicator, greatly enhanced the festival’s prestige. Her decades of expertise in ballet instruction and performance offered the participants priceless guidance and motivation.

Young dancers from all over India participated in the festival’s inaugural edition, which received an overwhelming response, making it a truly national celebration of ballet. Boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 45 during the workshop and between the ages of 9 and 21 during the competition united to display their skill, commitment, and love for one of the most elegant and disciplined dance styles in the world.

Khushcheher Dallas said, “A dream come true is the Kolkata Ballet Festival. It is a movement to support young dancers, promote artistic excellence, and develop a thriving ballet community in India, rather than just a competition. It is incredibly motivating to watch kids from various cities and nations come together via the common language of dance. We hope that this festival solidifies Kolkata’s place on the international ballet map and serves as a springboard for numerous young dancers”.

In Category 1 (9–13 Years), Arya Sarder emerged as the Winner, while the 1st Runner-Up was Saanvi Rajgarhia, 2nd Runner-Up was Sharadiya Banerjee, and the Consolation Prize (Scholarship) was awarded to Diksha Sharma.
