The web film, directed by Sayantan Mukherjee, is expected to captivate audiences with its authentic storytelling, relatable characters, and emotionally charged moments. Phutaniganjer Mahesh captures the spirit of rural Bengal while telling a universally relatable story.
Director Sayantan Mukherjee said, “Phutaniganjer Mahesh is inspired by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s timeless classic Mahesh—a story that has stayed with generations of readers since our school days. I had always wanted to bring this story to the screen, but I knew how difficult it would be, especially given that Ritwik Ghatak had previously attempted it. I was deeply moved when writer Arkadeep Nath described this one-of-a-kind interpretation, which combined Mahesh’s life with that of legendary theatre personality Harimadhab Mukhopadhyay. Mr. Nil Ratan Datta of Camellia Productions shared my enthusiasm, and together we brought this film to life. I’m very proud of Phutaniganjer Mahesh”.
With the release of the official poster, excitement for Phutaniganjer Mahesh has grown among Bengali entertainment fans. The web film, produced by Camellia Productions Pvt. Ltd. and Rupa Datta, will premiere on Fridaay and is expected to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative.
The release date will be announced shortly.
