The past starts to uncover secrets that were supposed to stay hidden when an unexplained death leads to a long-forgotten crime. Sobsomoy announces Rudra, an upcoming original web series directed by Arindam Chakrabarty, which will bring this intriguing concept to the screen.

Rudra, which features Mainak Banerjee and Tonni Laha Roy in key roles, is set in an enigmatic and atmospheric setting where an apparently simple case gradually takes an unexpected turn.

Rudra Sen, a gifted private investigator who has chosen to live alone after a personal tragedy, is portrayed by Mainak Banerjee. When he takes on a mysterious case that defies simple explanation, his entire world shifts.

Paromita, played by Tonni Laha Roy, is a resolute woman who finds it difficult to accept the circumstances surrounding her father’s passing. Her search for answers leads her to Rudra, and the two of them are drawn into an investigation that progressively reveals disturbing ties to the past.

A tale shaped by secrets, guilt, justice, and retaliation emerges as Rudra starts to piece together the clues. It is rooted in a crime that occurred decades ago and still casts a shadow over the present. However, the central questions of the series continue to be how the pieces fit together and who is actually responsible for the mystery that is developing.

Tonni Laha Roy said, “Because she is so different from the characters I typically play, Paramita holds a special place in my heart. Paramita is upbeat, grounded, and relatable, whereas I frequently play negative or gray-shaded roles. Since I only have my father in real life, her relationship with her father struck a deep chord with me. It was emotionally taxing but lovely to play her. I hope that viewers will relate to Paramita, comprehend her journey, and let her win their hearts”.

“My character’s name is Rudro. Rudro is a very unique character, and honestly, I have never played anything like this before. I said, Let’s do it! as soon as Arindam told the story and gave me an overview of the character. We’ve been friends for a long time, and even though the process was a little hectic due to our busy schedules, we had a great time working together. It’s a compelling crime thriller with an intriguing plot. I had some reservations about Rudro’s appearance at first, but after the photo shoot, I thought it was fantastic. I hope it’s a hit with the audience as well. Rudro will soon be available for viewing on Sobsomoy OTT,” said actor Mainak Banerjee.

Director Arindam Chakrabarty said, “We have made a conscious effort to steer clear of formulaic detective stories in favor of something new, captivating, and unusual. We are very optimistic that viewers will appreciate this distinctive, exciting, and captivating detective experience because we have done a lot of research and given Mainak and the other actors a completely different look”.

The series also features Souradeep Roy as Avra, Arna Dhar as Maitreyi, and Priya Mondal as Anamika in significant roles.

Rudra promises a multi-layered mystery that gradually pulls viewers into its world while keeping its secrets close.
