Imagine waking up to a beautiful morning where the forest looks like an open book. For those of us who know how to read, books are full of words and stories. But reading is much bigger than just understanding letters on a page. It is about understanding the world around us, the rivers, the trees, and the rain clouds. As we celebrate International Literacy Day 2026 under the theme “Literacy for people, the planet, and prosperity”, we realize that learning to read is like opening a door to the soul. It connects us to ourselves, to nature, and to our human dignity.

Think of a little girl running through a bright yellow mustard field, holding her slate and chalk tightly as she rushes to school. For her, these simple feelings are the keys to a whole new universe.
