Focus On Eye Donation At The “Draw For Sight”
Disha Eye Hospitals and Prova Eye Bank organised a drawing competition titled Draw For Sight at Disha Eye Hospitals in New Town, Kolkata.
Held as part of the 41st National Eye Donation Fortnight 2026, the initiative aimed to raise awareness about eye donation among children and engage school students to sensitise the younger generation toward the gift of sight.
The competition provided a creative platform for young participants to express their thoughts on eye donation, vision, and the transformative impact of giving the gift of sight.
The event was structured into two distinct groups: Category 1 for students in Classes V to VII, and Category 2 for students in Classes VIII to X.
The art competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 60 students representing prominent institutions across the region.
Schools such as The Newtown School, Lighting Lives School, IEM Public School, Narayana School (Newtown), Delhi Public School (Newtown), Delhi Public School (Megacity), and La Martiniere for Girls were proudly represented.
Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya, Chairman and Managing Director of Disha Eye Hospitals, noted that eye donation is one of the most meaningful ways to grant someone the opportunity to experience the world. He emphasized that art serves as a powerful, expressive medium for communicating vital messages and fostering community-wide conversations.
The Draw For Sight competition successfully sparked meaningful discussions among students, families, and the wider community, celebrating creativity, compassion, and social awareness.
