Great Awareness About Heart Health At Desun Cardio Care Walkathon

Desun Hospital held the Desun Cardio Care Walkathon 2026 to celebrate World Heart Day and raise awareness about heart health, consistent physical activity, and mindful eating. The initiative gathered doctors, nurses, students, and residents from the neighborhood, all of whom took part in the walkathon to promote preventive heart care and healthier lifestyles.

The walkathon was flagged off by Ms Agnimitra Paul, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Municipal Affairs & Urban Development, Government of West Bengal, from Desun Hospital.

The participants walked from Desun Hospitals to Acropolis Mall, emphasizing the value of maintaining physical activity and embracing healthy lifestyle habits to lower cardiovascular risks.

The event was attended by Ms Shaoli Dutta, CEO, Desun Hospitals; Dr Sanjib Kr Patra, Director, Cardiology; Dr Avik Karak, Consultant, Interventional Cardiology; Dr Biaus Samanta, Consultant, Interventional Cardiology; Dr Soumyajit Ghosh, Consultant, Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery; Dr Jhulana Kr Jena, Consultant, Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery; Dr Sudeb Mukherjee, Consultant, Interventional Cardiology; and Dr Kowshik Paul, Consultant, Cardiac Anaesthesiology, along with other doctors, senior functionaries, nursing staff, residents, and school students.

Ms Shaoli Dutta, CEO of Desun Hospitals, said, “Heart health is not only about medical care but also about the everyday choices we make. The Desun Cardio Care Walkathon was designed to inspire individuals to embrace consistent physical activity, mindful eating, and overall healthier lifestyle choices. We hoped this initiative would motivate citizens to take proactive steps toward safeguarding their heart health”.

The involvement of healthcare professionals, nursing staff, students, and neighborhood residents highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in advancing cardiovascular health. The walkathon also emphasized that adopting simple lifestyle changes, engaging in regular physical activity, and scheduling timely health check-ups can significantly contribute to maintaining heart health.

The initiative ended by urging increased awareness of cardiovascular health and encouraging the adoption of healthier daily habits.
