Great Spirit Of Puja Captured In 2 New Singles

With the city all ready to immerse itself in the spirit of Durga Puja, musical duo Shiladitya-Som has launched two new singles, Chupi Chupi and Jhoome Re Phaagun, under Surinder Music. The tracks capture contrasting moods of the celebration: quiet nostalgia and high-energy festivity.
The songs were officially launched at an event attended by Surinder Singh, Founder of Surinder Films, alongside singer Anwesshaa, music composers Shiladitya-Som, lyricist Soham Majumdar, and others at Chapter 2.

Reflecting on the dual release, the composer duo Shiladitya-Som shared their creative vision and said, “Music has always lived at the crossroads of tradition and reinvention, and that is exactly the space we wanted to explore with these two songs. With Chupi Chupi, we went into silence, memory, and the kind of emotion that Puja often quietly carries alongside all its celebration. And with Jhoome Re Phaagun, we wanted to bring back the raw, earthy folk textures of Bengal and Assam and give them a sound that feels completely of today”.
Chupi Chupi aims to recreate that sense of longing and emotional intimacy. Centered around unspoken love and memory, the track captures a deeply personal feeling: the moment a familiar melody reminds someone of a first love, a specific Puja evening, or someone no longer around.

Jhoome Re Phaagun shifts its focus to contemporary celebration. The track draws inspiration from the rustic musical flavors of Bengal and Assam, blending traditional folk sounds with modern electronic beats. The resulting composition offers a lively, energetic style that keeps its roots intact while delivering a fresh and vibrant celebratory sound.
Together, the two releases reflect what Puja music has traditionally meant to Bengalis: a delicate balance of joy, memory, and community connection. As Kolkata gears up for lights, music, and festivity, these new tracks provide listeners with both a reason to dance at the pandals and a melody to pause and remember.
