Award-winning short films “Written By?” and “Anurup-Mirror Image” by filmmaker Kankana Chakraborty, alumna of New York Film Academy were screened at the American Center.

Renowned Bengali actors Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Mithu Chakrabarty who were part of the films were present at the screening and post the screening a special interaction with the audience was organized at a program titled “From Kolkata to LA via NYC.’

American Center Director Jamie Dragon welcomed the guests and handed over the Best Actor award in an Indie film to actor Sabyasachi Chakrabarty for “Anurup-Mirror Image”.  The award was given by Los Angeles Film Award (LAFA) 2019.

“It feels great that my short films are screened at such a prestigious place. There is a connecting factor and that is why I think my films were screened here. I have studied and I work in LA. So I think that the program has also been titled keeping that in mind. My films were screened at Max Mueller Bhavan and it is then through Benu Sir and Mithu Mam, they came to know about me and asked me whether I will screen the film at American Center. The film has been made for the people to watch and this is a great opportunity” said Kankana.

Sabyasachi Chakrabarty who has acted in both the films was full of praises for the director. “I have even received a prize for acting in Anurup. That was a huge achievement and the screening of the film here is an added honour for the team of both the films. It is an awesome feeling” said the actor.

Mithu Chakrabarty had not felt that her debut short film will take such a huge turn. She was ecstatic about the result. She also agreed that she will work more in short films if she is given the opportunity.
