Sankalpa Nrityayan, an Odissi dance school, presented RAVASH 2026, the 23rd Annual Concert, on the hallowed stage of Rabindra Sadan. It was an unforgettable evening. The festival this year was especially significant because it marked the 100th birthday (Centenary) of the renowned Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, honoring a century of his enduring legacy, creative vision, and unmatched contribution to Indian classical dance.

Lord Jagannath’s divine blessings kicked off the program, which was followed by a heartfelt welcome from Director Sri Subikash Mukherjee and the auspicious Mangalacharan, where each movement was an act of devotion.

The event was graced by eminent Odissi dancer Rajashri Praharaj (SNA Bismilla Khan Awardee) and Preetisha Mohapatra (granddaughter of Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra), both disciples of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra.

Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra choreographed their captivating performance of Ardhanarishwar, which enthralled the audience and appropriately honored the Guru’s enduring artistic legacy.

Presenting two memorial scholarships that turn treasured memories into inspiration and hope was one of the evening’s most moving moments. Rishita Das received the Jeetobritti (Subhadip Chakraborty Memorial Scholarship), and Mrittika Sen received the Udbhas (Pralay Dasgupta Memorial Scholarship), which inspires young dancers to strive for greatness with commitment, humility, and passion.

The audiences were mesmerized with great performances including Basant Pallavi, Kahi Gole (Abhinaya), Mohana Pallavi, Saberi Pallavi, Shreeta Kamala (Ashtapadi), Molimalo by the senior-most disciples, and the solo Rase Hari Miha (Ashtapadi) by Sri Subikash Mukherjee himself.

The festival concluded with Nivedanam, presented by Guru Ashimbandhu Bhattacharya and Upasana Centre for Dance (Kathak Group).

The concert, which was expertly led by Rohan Sengupta, presented a magnificent celebration of Indian classical dance while showcasing the talent and commitment of Sankalpa Nrityayan students. RAVASH 2026 was more than just an annual event; it was an emotional journey where tradition welcomed the future, devotion met discipline, and every beat reflected the enduring spirit of the Guru–Shishya Parampara. As the curtains closed, they left behind many hearts full of appreciation, inspiration, and a fresh resolve to protect and honor India’s invaluable cultural legacy for future generations.
