Audio Music Album Oder Sathe Melao Consists Of Children’s Songs By Tagore

Works on children are not been much done in Bengal recently. Earlier many eminent writers like Sukumar Ray and Satyajit Ray published works for the children. However, not much works for children are available now.

Keeping this in mind, a new audio music album Oder Sathe Melao was released in the presence of Sudeb Guhathakurta, Principal, Dakshini, Prabuddha Raha, Srikanto Acharya, Srijato, Subhen Chatterjee, Aditi Gupta, and others.

Notable works of Tagore on children have been recomposed as narrative verse. Due to the pandemic, the album’s release was delayed. Otherwise, the work on the album was completed by 2019.

Oder-Sathe-Melao

Srijato has composed 6 children’s songs, poems, and stories written by Rabindranath Tagore. The music arrangement of this CD is by Surjit Das. The songs are sung by Arpita Bose Roy, the commentary is by Amrita Sarkar and the child artist is Arghya Sarkar.

 

Some of the songs in the album are Alo amar alo, Gram chara, Megher kole, Amra sabai raja, and others. There are eight songs in this album.

Srikanto Acharya said “Some of the songs of Tagore might look like it has been composed for the kids. For instance, Amra sabai raja though sung mostly by the kids is not a song meant for the kids only. It is a song meant for the adults and indicates the kind of governance he wanted for India”.

This music album is brought out by Hindustan Records (INRECO).

The price of the album is Rs 250.
