Bengal Now Has Its First Atal Community Innovation Centre

Adamas University has been chosen by the Adamas Innovation and Incubation Foundation (AIIF) to host the state’s first Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC), a significant boost to West Bengal’s innovation ecosystem. The announcement was made at the Adamas Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conclave 2026 (AIEC-2026), which was hosted by the E-YUVA Centre with support from BIRAC.
More than 150 students, researchers, entrepreneurs, academics, and innovators from more than 20 institutions in Eastern India attended the conclave. In order to accelerate innovation-led growth in the region, discussions centered on enhancing cooperation between academia, government, incubators, and industry.
The onboarding of specific E-YUVA teams under BIRAC’s Third National Call was a major highlight. The E-YUVA Centre will provide the teams with funding, innovation support, entrepreneurial training, and mentorship.
Start-up pitching sessions and a panel discussion on creating innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems in higher education institutions were also part of the event. To foster knowledge exchange, mentorship, and incubation partnerships, participating institutions decided to work toward creating a Consortium of Academic Institutions for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development.
Through incubation, capacity building, technology validation, and market connections, the recently announced ACIC-AIIF will support student entrepreneurs, grassroots innovators, and start-ups, bolstering Eastern India’s expanding innovation landscape.
