Speaking at the event, Subhasish Mukherjee said “My greatest regret is I could not act with Bhanu Bandyopadhyay. Comedy is the toughest form of acting and he excelled in that form so well. He used to speak in the Bangal dialect and that was never ridiculed by anyone. Everyone actually loved the dialect when he spoke in that dialect”.

Shaheb Chatterjee said that Bhanu Bandyopadhyay was the actor who popularized stand-up comedy even before these terms became popular.

Saikat Mitra shared how his father Shyamal Mitra and Bhanu Bandyopadhyay became friends. “Such was their friendship that they wore the same dhoti. One day my father wore the dhoti and the next day Bhanu uncle used to wash it and wear it. Whenever he entered a place, it was ensured that he will speak the maximum and also steal the limelight with his wit and humor” said Saikat Mitra.
