Bhumi Pednekar is about to take on a new role as a police officer in the new Amazon web series, Daldal. She is thrilled that female actors are getting the opportunity to lead roles on major international streaming platforms.

“It feels amazing that I work at a time when a woman can command such a massive mounting and feel supremely empowered that she can headline a series on a global streaming platform. I am therefore overjoyed that my body of work—which dates back to my debut—has validated my ability to take on large tasks at this time” said Bhumi.

“I’m truly humbled by this realization and it inspires me to work so hard that I deliver powerful performances that people remember” added the actress.

“I’m naturally drawn to challenges. That is the essence of me. Since my debut, I’ve always done things correctly. I think that because of these opportunities, actors may truly shine brightly in the age of content. Daldal is the ideal project for me to showcase an entirely different aspect of my acting abilities. It shows me in a whole different light, and I enjoy stretching myself” said Bhumi.

“I love that in Daldal, I play a woman who has shattered the glass ceiling by being appointed as the DCP of Mumbai. She is a super achiever in a world run by men, and I adored that aspect of the show in addition to all the lovely subtleties the character and the writing had to offer. A figure like this, in my opinion, will speak to the times we live in as women are no longer constrained and may be ambitious and independent” added Bhumi.

“I’m excited to be teaming up with Vikram again after our hugely acclaimed Durgamati and our blockbuster Toilet-Ek Prem Katha. Working with a brain like Suresh Triveni, whose work I much admire, and of course, Amrit Raj Gupta, makes me very happy. Together, I believe we can produce another smash hit for Amazon Prime Video and elevate India’s standing in the world of content creation. I wished Daldal would do the same because my previous popular streaming project, Bhakshak, allowed me to connect with so many people worldwide” said the talented actress.

Daldal is a suspenseful thriller. Newly appointed DCP Rita Ferreira of Mumbai, plagued by her past and current problems, must investigate a string of killings that puts her in confrontation with a cold-blooded serial killer while also trying to keep her own life together.
