One of Kolkata’s most prestigious educational establishments, Calcutta Boys’ School (CBS), celebrated its Annual Speech Day and Award Ceremonies 2026 with grandeur and excitement. CBS has a distinguished legacy of academic excellence, character development, and value-based education. The event reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to developing self-assured and responsible future leaders by recognizing exceptional academic performances, creative accomplishments, and students’ overall development.

Inspiring performances by the CBS Choir, a multimedia presentation called The Year in Retrospect, and the presentation of esteemed awards and scholarships honoring excellence in both academic and extracurricular domains were all part of the Senior School Annual Speech Day. Devayush Podder from the ISC 2026 batch and Somdev Sinha Roy from the ICSE 2026 batch, who both received 99 percent, were among the outstanding accomplishments recognized by the institution.

The ceremony was graced by Dr Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay, Honourable Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, and an alumnus of Calcutta Boys’ School from the batch of 1987; Bishop Dr C. Selvin; and Mr Tamoghna Ghosh, District President, BJP North Kolkata.

Mr. Raja McGee, Principal and Secretary of Calcutta Boys’ School, gave the Annual Speech and Welcome Address. He expressed gratitude for the efforts made by students, parents, teachers, and the entire school community in fostering the intellectual and personal development of young minds. He emphasized that education went beyond the classroom and concentrated on helping students grow in self-assurance, morality, creativity, and a sense of accountability.

According to Dr. Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay, Calcutta Boys’ School has greatly influenced my path by fostering strong morals, self-discipline, self-assurance, and a spirit of excellence that continue to direct me in both my public and professional life. He also discussed the significance of Satyameva Jayate and conveyed his pride in India’s rich history, varied cultures, languages, literature, foods, and customs. He discussed India’s contributions in a variety of fields, such as the literary accomplishments of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, as well as the nation’s varied political philosophies and democratic spirit. He also emphasized that he is the fourth Calcutta Boys’ School graduate to hold a ministerial position.

A celebration of excellence marked the end of the event, reiterating Calcutta Boys’ School’s longstanding reputation as a hub for high-quality instruction, moral principles, cultural enrichment, and comprehensive student development.
