National-Doctors-Day

1st July is celebrated as National Doctor’s Day in memory of renowned physician Bidhan Chandra Roy. On this special occasion, a press conference was organized to raise awareness about cancer.

Gracing the occasion were Dr. Chandrakanth MV, Dr. Vivek Agarwala, and Dr. Neha Choudhury.

Also present at the occasion were cancer survivors who shared their stories.

Speaking at the press conference, Dr. Chandrakanth MV said “Cancer will be among one of the diseases that will lead to the death of people in India in the coming times. This can be attributed to the fact that the life span of the people has increased considerably. As a result, it has become very important to take precautions and get themselves tested beforehand so that cancer can be detected early”.

The doctors stressed the fact that early diagnosis can lead to saving more lives. By detecting the disease in the early stages, one can lessen the medical costs and also ensure better well-being of the patient.

By shunning bad habits like alcohol consumption, tobacco intake, limiting fast food intake, and others, one can reduce the chances of developing cancer.

The doctors concluded by stating that patients need not go to other states for getting themselves treated. All the facilities are available in West Bengal itself. By going to other states, only the medical costs will increase and that will increase the medical expenditures.

Hence, staying aware is the best way to tackle this disease.
