The premiere of the Bengali film Akorik took place at Nandan in the presence of the cast and crew of the film.

AKORIK was officially selected for screening in the Bengali Panorama section of the recently concluded 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) 2022. AKORIK has also been a participant in the NFDC Film Bazaar 2022 held in Goa.

“Now that the film has been released in cinema halls, I will urge the audience to come and watch the film and tell us about their views about the film” said the director.

The story of the film AKORIK is about an elderly man who was raised in a traditional Bengali joint family system.  He interacts with a young kid who lives with his mother, a single parent. Despite having distinct upbringings and philosophical philosophies, the man and the youngster from two different generations get emotionally close and finally embark on a philosophical trip together.

The film addresses the collapse of the Bengali joint family structure, which is a problem for the community’s culture. In an effort to find out whether the breakdown of the joint family structure has made us more autonomous or has caused us to stray from our roots, AKORIK attempts to examine the situation objectively while seeking an answer to a crucial question: Where are we going?

The film is a maiden production of Iceberg Creations LLP.

The film is directed by Tathagata Bhattacherjee and Co-Produced by Deepak Pareek.

The cast consists of eminent actors like Victor Banerjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Anuradha Roy, Angana Bose, Master Ankan Mallick, Sudeshna Chakraborty, Anindo Sarkar, Supratim Roy, Jayashree Adhikary, Abhishek Ganguli and Master Swapnadip Adhikary.

Rituparna Sengupta said, “Finally today is the premiere of this much-awaited film. The audience must come and watch this film which showcases a problem of today’s times so beautifully”.
