CharnockLohia Hospital-To Cater To People Of Central Kolkata
Charnock Hospital is a major player in the northern part of the city. After decades of service and the trust of thousands of people, the hospital has decided to start operations in the once-famous Lohia Hospital to enter the Central Kolkata healthcare market. Once housing the mother and child hospital Lohia Matri Sewa Sadan, this magnificent heritage building is currently vacant. To serve the people living in the busy, densely populated neighborhoods of Central Kolkata, Charnock Hospital is leasing this property and turning it into a super specialty hospital that will be known as CharnockLohia Hospital.
A press conference was held in The Park in Kolkata to announce the same.
The former ‘Lohia Matri Sadan’, which occupied a huge 4 bigha of land, is set to be redeveloped into a 200-bed super specialty hospital featuring CTVS/Neuro OT, 4-6 OT, and a cath lab. More than 90 ward beds, 20 cabins, a 10-bed emergency room, a 70-bed intensive care unit, and a 10-bed dialysis unit are all planned. An extensive restoration project will be carried out to repair the existing structure and bring back the old-world elegance and majesty of this former palace, which is listed as a Grade 1 Heritage site in West Bengal. One of the original members of this premises was Sri GD Birla. Situated 500 meters from Girish Park Metro Station, it can be reached on foot from Nimtala Ghat Street, Jorasanko Street, and Vivekananda Road. It has a good parking facility.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Prashant Sharma, MD of Charnock Hospital, said “To receive critical care services, patients must travel to the southern part of Kolkata or to the Salt Lake/Ultadanga/BT Road area, which can be fatal in certain situations and takes a long time. With a projected 160 crore investment, the CharnockLohia Hospital will boost the economy and create over 900 jobs, proving that Bengal means business. In our state, a large number of these properties are unoccupied, idle, and vacant. Charnock Hospital is prepared to take over the current space on a long-term lease and transform it into a Super Specialty hospital throughout Bengal, meeting the region’s growing healthcare demands and making a name for itself in the industry”.
With their motto of Patient First, patients in Central Kolkata can be sure of getting advanced medical care.
