The Abanindranath Tagore Gallery, ICCR, is the host of Chitra Rekha, a stunning joint exhibition that highlights the elegant lines and figures of classical style. Siddhartha Majumder and Sourav Ghosh, two talented artists with a strong connection to Santiniketan’s rich cultural legacy, combine their abilities in this artistic partnership.

Eminent painter Jogen Chowdhury and reputed scholar Dr Uma Dasgupta inaugurated the exhibition.

The open, artistic community of Santiniketan, where culture and the arts thrive, fostered the growth of both artists, who have been friends since infancy. Their artistic creations exhibit a strong impact from their distinctive upbringing, as their perspectives and creativity blend well with the classical style. Sourav Ghosh’s exquisite Alpona textures can be seen on pottery plates and wooden boards, while Siddhartha Majumder’s paintings and sketches depicting tribal life are also available.

Chitra Rekha, which translates as the line of pictures, reveals a nuanced but profound reflection of the artists’ path through the vast spaces and classical aesthetics that influenced their ideas and works of art.

The exhibition allows art lovers and experts to delve into the alluring realm of the artwork’s refinement, where lines and figures come together to tell a tale that defies convention and time.

The exhibition will remain open for visitors until January 4th, 2024, every day from 3 pm to 8 pm.
