The 8-day long Rathayatra Mela will be organized at Brigade Parade Ground from 1st to 8th July 2022. All devotees can visit the mela from 3.30 pm to 9 pm daily and get the darshan of Lord Jagannath. Free Khichadi prasadam will be served once the Ratha reaches the Brigade Parade Ground.
Devotees from 150 countries will participate and will cook, sing, and dance for Lord Jagannath.
Apart from the three chariots of Lord Jagannath, Baladev, and Subhadra Devi, there will be three trolleys, and 4 minivans and children will showcase different pastimes of the Lord.
The devotees will distribute Jagannath Mahaprasad all along the route.
Some of the special features of the ISKCON chariots are as follows:
- The tires used for the chariot of Lord Jagannath are Aircraft tires.
- Subhadra Devi’s chariot was stolen in Kolkata. Hence this new chariot was brought from Mumbai in 2002 on a trailer. The chariot is collapsible from above and also from the sides.
- Lord Baladev’s ratha is the biggest chariot among the three. However, maneuvering it across the streets of Kolkata with cables and wires is difficult. Hence the ISKCON devotees made a customized Ratha whose canopy can collapse with a push of the button and expand to its full size in minutes.
Jai Jagannath!!
