Debut Edition Of Status Single Awards Honored 12 Remarkable Women

The first-ever Status Single Awards were held at The Park Hotel in Kolkata in collaboration with the Urvaraa Foundation. The event honored the hardships and scars of 12 remarkable single women in a variety of fields while also recognizing their incredible journeys and accomplishments. Let’s Talk, Charnock Hospital, and the Alok Foundation sponsored the awards while The Park, Kolkata served as the hospitality partner.

The first and only community for metropolitan single women in India is called Status Single. Sreemoyee Piu Kundu is a writer and columnist on gender and sexuality. Her first nonfiction work, Status Single, was published in 2018 and quickly rose to the top of the bestseller charts. It is considered a seminal work on female identity in a country where marriage and motherhood are still the highest validations for women. Since its founding in 2021 as a Facebook-recognized community group of 4,000 women, Status Single has attracted significant attention from around the world. Its offline tribe now spans nine Indian cities: Kolkata, Delhi-NCR, Lucknow, Mumbai, Goa, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. International chapters are soon to launch in Canada, Dubai, and the UK.

These honors, which are led by best-selling novelist and resilient lady Sreemoyee Piu Kundu, the recipient of the NDTV Loreal Woman of Worth title, are a testament to the lives and accomplishments of a self-partnered woman.

The 12 single women who were felicitated for their outstanding contributions included– Dr. Indrani Lodh for Women’s Health. She is also the force behind the Urvaraa Foundation. Director of the Birla Group of Schools, Mukta Nain for Education,  Elora Sen, Deputy News Editor of The Telegraph for Journalism, Rita Bhimani for Public Relations, novelist and columnist Sangeeta Bandhopadhyay for Literature, Soumita Basu, Founder of Zywnika Inclusive Fashion, for Inclusion, industrialist Preeyam Budhia for Social Entrepreneurship, app cab driver, Dipta Ghosh for Breaking Stereotypes, Director Anindita Sarbhadicari for Direction, Plus sized model and body positivity spokesperson Anindita Roy for Social Media Influencer, VP, Marketing, Medica Hospitals Soma Chakraborty for Leadership.

Swastika Mukherjee received the Status Single Icon Award.

The special guests who presented the award were Shilpa Chakravarthy, Kaveri Dutt, Reshmi Bagchi, Imran Zaki, Saira Shah Halim, Sriranjani Joshi, Shaleini Bbiswas, Ujjanini, Jolly Chanda, Debjani Ghosh and Shveta Sharma.
