Hoichoi returns with a mystery drama, Choddobeshi, directed by Aritra Sen, which is based on the critically acclaimed novel Chowdhury Barir Rahashyo by Abhirup Sarkar. The Hoichoi series, which stars an ensemble cast headed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay, promises a compelling story of suspense, family intrigue, and hidden agendas.

Goyenda Aditya Majumdar, played by Parambrata Chattopadhyay, is a struggling private investigator whose most recent case puts him in the middle of one of the most powerful families in the city. Veteran actor June Maliah plays the role of renowned actress Mandakini Chowdhury, while Ritabhari Chakraborty plays Ratna, Aditya’s wife and confidante.

The ensemble cast also includes Srijla Guha as Sohini Maitra, Mandakini’s daughter; Bharat Kaul as Subir Chowdhury; Indrasish Roy as Shankhadeep, Subir’s son; Paayel Sarkar as Martha Savio, Kheya Chattopadhyay as Shankhamala; Bimal Giri as Subrata Sen; and Shoumo Banerjee as ACP Gautam.

Padmanabha Dasgupta wrote the screenplay and dialogue for the Hoichoi series, which is based on Abhirup Sarkar’s Chowdhury Barir Rahashyo.

When a well-known actress starts to worry that a string of disturbing events surrounding her is anything but coincidental, private investigator Aditya Majumdar is drawn into a high-stakes mystery. Aditya must navigate the complex relationships, covert agendas, and simmering tensions within one of the most powerful families in the city as suspicion falls on those closest to her.

He explores a world where wealth, legacy, and long-kept secrets collide with Ratna and ACP Gautam. However, every truth raises another question in a home based on appearances, and everyone seems to have something to hide.

“This is fundamentally a story about secrets—those we conceal from ourselves and from others. In addition to being a compelling mystery, the series explores human frailty, ambition, and family dynamics. Every character feels like a suspect in our world, and the audience’s perception of the truth is altered by each revelation. When the show debuts in July, I can’t wait for viewers to go on this adventure,” said director Aritra Sen.

“Aditya is unlike the conventional detectives we often see. While trying to solve a very complicated mystery, he is flawed, vulnerable, and dealing with personal difficulties. I was drawn to the character because of his humanity and the emotional depth of the inquiry. I can’t wait for viewers to get to know him and explore this story’s world. Even though I have a wonderful relationship with the platform as a creator and director, this project also represents my first acting role in a HoichoiOriginal series,” said Parambrata Chattopadhyay.

“Ratna is crucial to Aditya’s journey. She is a crucial component of the investigation and adds warmth, intelligence, and emotional depth to the story. I was captivated by the script from the start, and I am excited for viewers to uncover the numerous twists and turns that lie ahead,” said Ritabhari.

“Returning to Hoichoi always feels like home. Within the intricate dynamics of the Chowdhury family, Martha Savio is a fascinating character. Because each character in this story has personal motivations and secrets, the story is highly captivating. Being a part of a mystery where nothing is as simple as it seems was thrilling,” said actress Paayel Sarkar.

The hoichoi series is slated for release this July.
