Focus On The Importance Of Yoga At The Asiatic Society, Kolkata

In keeping with this year’s theme, Yoga for Healthy Ageing, the Asiatic Society, Kolkata, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2026, at its historic heritage grounds. Officials, employees, and members of the Society enthusiastically participated in the program, which started at 10:00 a.m.
With a performance of Vande Mataram, the event started. Lt. Col. Anant Sinha, Administrator of The Asiatic Society, spoke to the group and emphasized the value of yoga in promoting mental health, emotional fortitude, physical fitness, and a balanced lifestyle. He emphasized yoga’s ongoing value as a holistic approach to active and healthy aging.
Dr. Pritam Gurey, the librarian, Shri Arupratan Bagchi, the administrative officer, and Shri Arpan Ghosh, the security officer and nodal officer, participated in a series of yogasanas and breathing exercises with other officials and staff members under supervision.
The National Anthem was sung as the program came to an end, reiterating the Society’s dedication to fostering harmony, well-being, and India’s rich cultural legacy via significant community involvement.
