FTS Yuva, the youth wing of Friends of Tribals Society will be organizing its annual flagship event Ekal Run at Godrej Waterside, Kolkata on 7th January, 2024.

This will be inaugurated by India’s first-ever gold medalist in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games Geeta Phogat.

Freestyle wrestler Geeta Phogat began her career in 2010 and went on to become the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games. She later became the first female wrestler from India to ever qualify for and represent her country at the Summer Olympics. Geeta Phogat, who is from a small village in the state of Haryana, found it very difficult to pursue her ambitions of being a wrestler and to put in the necessary effort to make her aspirations come true. Additionally, Geeta Phogat set a standard for upcoming Indian women wrestlers by becoming the first female wrestler to represent her country in the Olympics—an achievement unmatched at the time.

5000+ participants will run for their chosen category of timed run – 21km, 10km, 5km, and non-timed /fun run of 3km. People of all age groups will participate in the run.

This marathon encourages people to go above and beyond their comfort zones to accomplish incredible things while also supporting this worthy cause. Ekal Run unceasingly unites participants, enthusiasts, and local communities to construct lifelong triumphant and companionable memories.
