Can you tell us something about Biyas?
Chandreyee Ghosh- I play Biyas who is a married woman. My husband’s role is played by Silajit. Her life is just like the other housewives. She develops a friendship with a man who is younger in age. However, the man is mature and that attracts her to him. This leads to a complicated situation. They think of meeting each other. How did the meeting go?
What made you agree to this project?
Chandreyee Ghosh- This is a story about a complex relationship. Now is the age of online dating!! Online dating leads to casual sex or growing physical intimacy between people. However, Biyas’s relationship with this younger man is a mature and deep friendship. This is a different kind of character that I have played and I am looking forward to it.
Have you ever had an online friend?
Chandreyee Ghosh- No, I never became friends with a stranger online. I have not done such a thing till now at least.
You had worked with Silajit before. How was the experience of sharing screens with one another?
Chandreyee Ghosh- Silajit was the hero of my first film. I worked with him for a span of twenty years. It was a good experience working with him as always.
How was your experience of working with the director?
Chandreyee Ghosh- The director handled the complex scenes so well. I was so impressed by it. This is a different character and it was handled so well by the director. Also, the director never lost his cool when we were shooting for Arshi. It was during our outdoor shoot that it suddenly started to rain heavily. We wasted a lot of time. We thought that the shoot will not take place. However, he was clear about what he wanted and we actually did the shooting.
Did you notice any changes in Silajit while working with him after 20 years?
Chandreyee Ghosh- We both have changed during these twenty years. We have amassed different experiences and our ages have increased. However, what we are internally has remained unchanged. Silajit has remained the same. He does not change according to the seasons. He is what he is.
Arshi is releasing on Saraswati Puja. What are your plans this time?
Chandreyee Ghosh- I don’t know but I am missing school this year. When I used to study in school, it was an exciting day for me.
This time I will take my mother out and go to my aunt’s place on Saraswati Puja.
What are your expectations from Arshi?
Chandreyee Ghosh- I have portrayed a character that is different and she deals with a complicated relationship. This is something new that I have portrayed. I hope that the audience loves it.
