Sandeep Bhattacharya has made a name for himself with his acting capabilities. The actor was seen last in Taaki Tales which streamed on Klikk. Sandeep is now awaiting the release of two web series Nisachor and Bay Line. The Kolkata Mail correspondent caught up with the actor in an exclusive chat. Excerpts..

Tell us about your roles in Nisachor and Bay Line.

Sandeep Bhattacharya- Everyone has seen me in positive characters or the boy-next-door in most of my projects. I have also played some negative roles. But in Nisachor, the audience will see me as a dark character. They have not seen me in such a role. It is interesting.

In Bay Line, I play a doctor. Many things are revealed through the character of the doctor. I got to work with Paran Bandopadhyay on this project. And that has been a great experience and I felt very inspired and motivated by sharing the screen with him.

How did you bag these two projects?

Sandeep Bhattacharya-I found the scripts interesting and off-beat. Content is the king now. So I took up these projects.

You have worked in films, television and web series. Which medium are you most comfortable in?

Sandeep Bhattacharya- I feel the most comfortable working in films and web series. If an artist wants to showcase his creativity, then that person has to work in films and web series. The creativity level is high in such mediums.

Television is very popular but the level of creativity gets limited there.

What are your upcoming projects?

Sandeep Bhattacharya- I have some upcoming projects. Bichar by director Raaj Mukherjee, Abar Shortcut (an Indo-Bangladesh project), Nisachor, and Bay Line all are lined up for release in 2022. Many projects got stalled due to the global pandemic. Hence many projects will release on the OTT platform and also many will have hall releases. I am looking forward to it.

Many actors are turning towards the direction. Is direction on your mind?

Sandeep Bhattacharya- I hardly have the time or the inclination to become a director. I am happy acting in different mediums, doing my business, and engaging in social work actively. I do not have the time for anything else. And I don’t think that I will be turning towards directing. I am happy as an actor.
