“I Will Dance To Salil Chowdhury’s Amazing Tunes”- Debjani Chatterjee
A unique musical event is planned for the City of Joy as a fund-raising project by Santoshpur Aguntuk, a non-governmental organization that promotes the welfare of special children, the elderly, and socially disadvantaged individuals. The program is called Retro Fest.
The program is separated into two parts: Sourendra-Soumyajit‘s musical performance and Debjani Chatterjee & Arnab Bandopadhyay’s dance performance, which features Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee’s narration. This section pays homage to Salil Chowdhury on the eve of his 100th birthday.
Secretary Arijit Mukhopadhyay discussed the program and their NGO’s effort, and said, “Our NGO has been working for the welfare of special children, elderly people, and socially and economically backward groups for ten years now. We have attempted to raise money in the past through several such cultural activities, but this year is very unique since we have encountered so many kind-hearted people who are incredibly eager to support us with their donations. The tribute to Salil Chowdhury is another element that added extra meaning to this year’s project. Through his writings, the empathy for those behind him has been brought to light on multiple occasions. His music inspires us, and with this program, I hope we can share our vision with others”.
“I am incredibly thrilled to dance to Salil Chowdhury songs before his birth centenary begins this year. Arnab and I are having a great time performing tunes that are incredibly well-known and dear to everyone’s hearts. We have titled our portion of the show after Ek Guccho Chabi. Salil Chowdhury is a masterful artist whose creations have always motivated me as an artist. I applaud Santoshpur Aguntuk for taking the initiative and sincerely hope that this event helps realize their ambition” said Debjani Chatterjee.
Retro Fest will happen on 9th February 2024 at the Indian Life Saving Society (Anderson Club) from 6:00 pm onwards.
