Debjani Chatterjee had worked before in Arindam Sil directed film Durga Sohay. The talented actress will now be seen again in Arindam Sil’s next film Tirandaj Shabor which will release on 27^th May. The Kolkata Mail correspondent caught up with the talented actress in an exclusive telephonic conversation. Excerpts..

You have worked with Arindam Sil before. What changes did you find in the director this time?

Debjani Chatterjee- I had a great experience. He is an experienced director and as always the shooting experience was so lovely. He is a cool, well-planned, and systematic director. There is no tension or problems during the shoot in the unit. We all shot the film and had great fun during the shooting.

So which character are you playing in the film?

Debjani Chatterjee- Since this is a thriller, I will not divulge much about the character. I play the character of Papia Samaddar who is an important character in the film.

Have you read the stories of Shabor before you actually started shooting for the film?

Debjani Chatterjee- I have never worked in a thriller before I did this film. I have never read the stories of Shabor but I am a fan of the series. I have watched all the films by Shabor. I love watching thrillers.

How was acting in a thriller different from acting in the other genres?

Debjani Chatterjee- I had to think and then act. I had to think about how the audience will react. This is very interesting and I had a great time shooting for the film.

You worked with Saswata Chatterjee for the first time. How was the experience?

Debjani Chatterjee- I absolutely loved working with Apu da (Saswata Chatterjee). He is an actor of such great stature. I was thinking about how he will be since he has worked in such great films. But I was proved wrong as he is a gem of a person. This was a great achievement for me.

Do you like reading thrillers/detective novels?

Debjani Chatterjee- I am a Feluda person and I love reading the stories.

The director however must be credited that he brought forth a new detective for the Bengali audience. Otherwise, the Bengali audience was stuck with Feluda and Byomkesh Bakshi.

Given a chance, will you like to star as a female detective in a film?

Debjani Chatterjee- I wish your words come true. I will really love to do such a role. I hope some director read this interview and come up with such a role.

The film is releasing this Friday. What will you tell the audience?

Debjani Chatterjee- The audience must come to the halls to watch the film. They will not find the same level of fun by watching it on the small screens.
