The Idlygo team and Anup Kanodia, the company’s founder, joined Nidhi Asif of WYSIWYG and Ananya Bhowmik, a clinical nutritionist and lifestyle consultant, to celebrate World Idly Day over a conversation about the health benefits of the South Indian staple food at the Press Club. The team members also cut a cake during the celebration.

“IdlyGo emerges as a beacon of hope for those seeking a quick, wholesome meal on the go in a world where easy, simple, and nutritious food seems to be drowned in the sea of processed food options. IdlyGo set out to offer a solution that would appeal to a wide audience, motivated by the desire to recover the essence of traditional, wholesome meals. Realizing the health benefits and ease of idlis—which are light, nutritious, and steam-cooked—IdlyGo debuted a menu using this South Indian mainstay. IdlyGo created a satisfying dinner that was both dietary-conscious and filled with hunger with two idlis served with fresh coconut chutney” said Anup Kanodia.

Created amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there are currently seven Idlygo locations throughout the entire city. In February 2022, they began by selling two idlis on a cycle for Rs. 15 in the Dalhousie neighborhood of Kolkata. In March 2023, they opened our first physical café at Girish Park in Kolkata. The brand has opened seven locations throughout the city in less than a year.

The seven prominent spots where Idlygo is located are Girish Park (opposite Haryana Bhavan), Dhakuria (near AMRI Hospital), Salt Lake Sec V (near Decathlon), Shakespeare Sarani (near Chhapan Bhog), and RN Mukherjee Road (near Old Mission Church) Howrah (Hotel Saket Near Howrah Bridge) Park Circus ( Near Don Bosco School).

Idlygo’s five USPs are as follows: Healthy, Hygienic, Fresh, Best quality ingredients, and Affordable Rates.

The brand’s “Gift a Meal” initiative, which distributes free food to hospitals, orphanages, slum regions, senior living facilities, and other needy populations, is one of its biggest pledges. It is available to anyone who wants to purchase meal kits to give to the less fortunate. The company hires people with speech and hearing impairments at its cafes, cycle vending, and kitchen as part of its commitment to diversity.

Idlygo’s plans consist of opening 25 idlyGo Xpress in Kolkata and Howrah within the next 6 months and launching idlyGo Canteen inside educational institutions, hospitals, and large corporates and factories. IdlyGo food carts will also be rolled out very soon.
