International Conference On Parkinson’s Disease And Movement Disorder
Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata (I-NK) organized an international conference on Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder.
Movement Disorders can be described as those neurological ailments that affect abnormality of the motor system of humans. These include Parkinson’s Disease, Dystonia, Tremors, difficulty in walking, and others.
The press conference of the convention was graced by Dr. Hrishikesh Kumar, Secretary, MDSI, Vice Chairman, Head of Neurology at Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata, Dr. Victor Fung (Australia), President-Elect, MDS, Dr. Fransisco Cardoso (Brazil), President, MDS, Dr. Raymond Rosales (Philippines), Chair, MDS Asian and Oceanian Section and Dr. Yih-ru wu – IPMDS-AOS Secretary.
The global convention is a combination of meetings of the Asian and Oceania section of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) and the Movement Disorder Society of India (MDSI).
Dr. Hrishikesh Kumar, Head of Neurology and Vice-Chairman of I-NK is the chair of the Local organizing committee of this conference. He is also the honorary secretary of MDSI.
The aim of the conference is to educate healthcare professionals and raise awareness of Movement Disorders in this part of the world. It will further allow exchanging of the ideas between the experts and help impart knowledge t the delegates attending the convention.
About 700 delegates are expected to take part in this conference. A large number of delegates are expected to arrive from countries like Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Srilanka, Bangladesh, and other nations from the Asia-Oceania area.
The doctors discussed that delivery of care to patients with Movement Disorders was very challenging during Covid-19.
An amazing patient program will also be organized by the Asian and Pacific Parkinson’s Disease Association (APPA) on 19th March at ITC Sonar. Patients with Movement Disorders and caregivers will get the awesome opportunity for interacting with global experts in this field. Some of the experts who will discuss this include Tim Anderson, Yih Ru Wu, Kailash Bhatia, Kallol Ray Choudhury, Onanong P, Maria Barretto, Kalpesh Kamdar, and others.
With the help of these two conferences, the focus was laid on the latest innovations, problems, and trends in this field. The organizers hoped that the convention will be a grand success.
The conference will continue till 19th march at ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata.
