“It Is High Time We Become United And Call It The Indian Film Industry”- Rajkummar Rao
Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao was in Kolkata to promote his upcoming Bollywood film HIT: The First Case.
The film is a remake of the 2020 Telegu film of the same name.
The story of the film revolves around a police officer, Vikram in the homicide intervention team. He must overcome his struggles over his tragic past for investigating a case of a missing woman.
Sanya and Rajkummar had starred in director Anurag Basu’s film Ludo.
Speaking about Sanya, the actor said “She is a fabulous actor and also a dear friend. I have been following her work and I was looking for an opportunity to work with her. And this film gave us that chance. When you have such an actor opposite you, your acting is also elevated. And that has what happened during the shoot of HIT”.
Dr. Sailesh Kolanu who directed the Telegu version has also directed the Hindi film.
“The action in this film is very realistic. There are no gravity-defying scenes in the film. There are many cop films that show such gravity-defying stunts. But there is no such scene in HIT. We have stuck to normal action scenes that the audience can relate to. My knowledge of Taekwondo has helped me a lot in performing these action scenes” added the actor.
When asked about the actor’s reaction regarding the success of the South Indian films, Rajkummar said “It is high time that we say that this is the Indian film industry and not Bollywood, Tollywood, and so on. We must all be united and work for the Indian film industry. That will be better”.
The film shows the police officer dealing with his own trauma. Speaking on mental illness, the actor said “It is very important that people talk about mental illness and deal with it. There are many people who have mental issues and yet they are not aware of it. With this film, we have tried to make people aware that it is all right to speak about mental issues”.
According to the actor, this was a challenging character and he had to do research to know about how people with trauma and panic attacks dealt with them. The director helped him a lot in portraying the character.
The actor claimed that he is a positive person. And whenever he feels low on one day, he motivates himself and gets up the next day to make it a better day than yesterday.
Rajkummar’s only regret in life is that he wished his parents saw how much success he has achieved in his life. They passed away even before he could achieve success in his career.
Rajkummar also visited The Victoria Memorial after the press conference.
The film’s cast consists of Sanya Malhotra, Dalip Tahil, and others in important roles.
Gulshan Kumar and T-Series present in association with Dil Raju Productions HIT: The First Case. Directed by Dr. Sailesh Kolanu, the film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Dil Raju, Krishan Kumar, and Kuldeep Rathore.
